Prêt-à-porter
Be permanently in Moroccan fashion with Arganane. We go to Casablanca and Fez to offer you the most beautiful caftans, takchitas, djellabas and gandouras.
- In Morocco, the caftan is very old and deeply rooted in the country's clothing habits. Indeed, it appeared in the 13th century at the time of the Merinid dynasty, where it was worn by Moroccan royalty. But this one is nothing like those worn in Persia and the Ottoman Empire. Moreover, unlike the latter, the Moroccan caftan is a garment exclusively worn by women.
At Arganane we offer you the Fez-style caftan, a long and narrow piece without a collar or hood. - The takchita refers to a version of the Moroccan caftan traditionally made up of two pieces worn one on top of the other, but can have up to five. Takchita outfits are distinguished by the quality of the luxurious fabrics used in their manufacture, their bold and harmonious colors, as well as their sometimes dense embroidery. The takchita is magnified by belts of various original and richly worked shapes called mdamma and laaquad. The first layer is often simple and light (it is less worked than the second). The most worn takchitas are those with two layers. The second layer is much more worked, revealing the details and the very worked and refined ornament of the beads and hand-sewn patterns. The manufacture of a two-layer takchita by a single seamstress can take up to two months of work.
- The djellaba or jellaba is a long loose dress with a hood, worn by men and women, widespread as traditional clothing in the Maghreb.
- The Gandoura, also called Arab blouse is a long colorful tunic decorated with various patterns. It is mainly worn in North Africa and the Middle East and can be made with or without sleeves.
